Background:
International Gemological Institute (IGI) was established in Antwerp in 1975.
IGI is an independent laboratory for the certification of precious gemstones and jewellery. IGI also runs its Schools of Gemology. Headquartered in Antwerp, with devisions in New York, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Dubai, Tel Aviv, New Delhi, Bangkok, Tokyo, Los Angeles and Toronto.
The IGI Hong Kong lab opened in November 2004 with 7 staff. In early 2010 IGI-HK expanded to 35 employees and continues growing.
Description:
IGI grading reports are the internationally recognized passports for gemstones and fine jewellery.
IGI certified gems are traded in every country in the world. IGI employs over 600 professionals worldwide including graders, gemologists and scientific technicians who examine annually hundreds of thousands of precious gemstones and jewellery articles. Every year, thousands of students start their career following the IGI's gem education programs at the IGI School of Gemology.
