Loyens & Loeff to open in Hong Kong

AMSTERDAM / ROTTERDAM, 9 January 2012 – Loyens & Loeff is to open a new office in Hong Kong as of 16 January 2012. This 18th office of Loyens & Loeff will be led by two senior partners: tax adviser Carola van den Bruinhorst and attorney Thierry Lohest. The office will also be staffed with senior associates. With this new office in Hong Kong, and existing offices in Singapore and Tokyo, Loyens & Loeff is further strengthening its presence in the fast-growing Far East region.

Loyens & Loeff Hong Kong advises international clients on international tax (re)structurings, M&A, investment funds, investment management, financing and wealth management. Carola van den Bruinhorst: “Asian investors are interested in the attractive Benelux investment climate, while being protected by a network of favourable bilateral investment treaties. Loyens & Loeff has been focusing on China for the past years with a dedicated China team frequently visiting the region. Being present in the middle of the dynamic Asian market, we can act on developments proactively and promptly.”

Carola van den Bruinhorst, tax adviser, joined the international tax practice of Loyens & Loeff in 1990. She advises internationally operating groups and funds on their Dutch, European and other international acquisitions and cross-border transactions, such as  corporate restructurings, refinancing and joint ventures. Previously she worked in Milan, New York and Amsterdam. Ms. Van den Bruinhorst is a frequently asked speaker and writer on international tax planning, often for the International Bar Association, where she currently serves as a member of the Legal Practice Division Council.

Thierry Lohest, attorney, specialises in corporate law, corporate finance, private equity, M&A, real estate, securities regulations and banking and finance matters. He has represented clients in numerous cross-border transactions, either public or private, including major public takeover bids and listings of securities. Previously he worked in London, Brussels and Luxembourg.
