Date of activity:
Tuesday, 9 February 2010
Type of activity:
Lunch Seminar
Speaker:
Paul Zimmerman, Designing Hong Kong
Description:

The aspirations of people in Hong Kong are changing:

Since 1997, Chinese people are no longer leaving in droves; since SARS in 2003 people are more conscious about their environment; people started to enjoy leisure time since the government introduced the 5-day work week in 2006; by 2030 one in four people will be aged 65 or over, up from one in eight today.

Paul Zimmerman, urban activist, will review how these changes impact the planning of Hong Kong,
and ongoing developments from Kai Tak to West Kowloon, from the express rail to the new bridge to Macao, from the Central Police Station to the waterfront.
