Dear Sir/Madam,

In conjunction with the celebration of Europe Day, the EU’s equivalent to a National Day, the European Union Office to Hong Kong & Macao is pleased to invite you to the EU Day event “Ideas from Europe, Ideas from Hong Kong”.

The event will take place on Monday 9 May 2016, from 16:00 to 18:00, at the InterContinental Hotel Hong Kong, 18 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong.

Research and innovation are firmly on the policy agenda for both the EU and Hong Kong. Our competitiveness in the global arena crucially depends on new ideas from innovative minds.

The Netherlands (which currently holds the rotating Presidency of the EU) has organised for the first time aEuropean TEDx event. This special edition took place in The Hague, the Netherlands and featured ground-breaking ideas from Europe’s most inspiring innovators and entrepreneurs.

The search for ideas from Europe was conducted via national selections and auditions in all EU countries. The best ideas were presented on stage at the TEDx event. From social innovators to educators, to professionals, scientists, engineers or doctors, TEDx speakers have one thing in common: passion in their field of expertise, a passion that transcends and inspires. Their ideas deserve to take the world’s stage!

At the event on 9 May 2016, the most inspiring of the TEDx “Ideas from Europe” will be shown on a large screen.
